Measuring distance of your runs

Sunday, December 9th, 2007

I have a GPS watch that is great for measuring distances and providing feedback during runs. However I find it gets tedious worrying about always wearing it and it detracts from the simplicity of running. Gadgets are what cycling is for right?

If you do want a good measure of your runs distance use google maps .

When you get to a map covering your run in google maps you can select the tab “my maps”. Under my maps there are various third party tools. One is a distance tool that allows you to measure interactively the distance between any number of points. The tool keeps track of the total distance for you.

Addy’s early runs

Friday, December 7th, 2007

Addy has decided that 5:30 am is the absolute latest she will sleep. So we have instituted the Addy early morning runs. This morning we ran to bluehouse to get coffee and muffins. On our return Addy always has to grab the earbud headphone from my ear and see what I’m listening to.

Running

Tuesday, November 27th, 2007

Got back on the running schedule after a vasectomy about a week ago. I
did a quick trial 4 miles on Sunday to make sure everything stayed
together, then did 5.5 miles today. Today felt great. I raqn at about
8:30pm in about 36 degree F weather. I felt really comfortable at a
8min/mile pace.

Sunday was my Birthday. Rika and Addy are all I could ask for on my
birthday. I did get an iphone and embroidered pillow too which is just
icing on the cake.

Everything is good, waiting for the next bambino what ever it may be
(boy, girl). Not long now.

Update on running

Tuesday, November 13th, 2007

I’ve been getting good miles in.

>11/07/07 3.14 miles on treadmill in hotel (SO BORING)
>11/09/07 3.56 miles on pavement back home
>11/10/07 4.5 miles run to bluehouse with Addy in chariot, then part way back with out addy.

>11/11/07 4.7 miles run Guadalupe+ route.
>11/12/07 6.0 miles ran home from work. The section of the pecos river through town is very disturbing I counted 120+ dead floating fish on the side of the river on my way home.

We are off to Albuquerque as a family for my vasectomy. Probably won’t be running for about a week after that so I want to put in some high mileage runs this week.

-Cheers, Nate

10k then you puke

Tuesday, November 6th, 2007

So on saturday I ran a 10k road race in Roswell. It was fun and I felt really good. THat night I must have gotten sick because I spent the whole night ulternating between throwing up and sitting on the toilet. No fun. I took sunday off and spent all day monday traveling. I did a quick 3.2 mile run Friday last week. On a happy note I’ve jump started my weight loss by dropping five pounds when I was sick.

I’m in Canada for a few days. Weather sucks, but I should get some good runs in.

Love to my girls!

Travel Kills the workout schedule

Friday, November 2nd, 2007

I had to travel from Tuesday this week through late Thursday night. Even though I had a gym in my hotel and warm sunny socal weather I only got out for one run on Wed afternoon. It was a quick 4mile run.

So good to be home with my Girls!

Chariot strollers

Saturday, October 27th, 2007

So the chariot stroller is the salvation of fathers… and mother who thought their running days were over upon arrival of their bundles of joy. The chariot provides me the time to go running guilt free by taking Addy off the hands of her wonderful mother Rika.

Don’t buy any other jogger/trailer on the market. None come close to the Chariot in terms of comfort or safety. Anyone have a used double they want to sell?

Addy went through a period recently where the chariot was not a welcome sight. She has since made peice and all is well again. In the picture below she was just worried since she could see Dad and was on a hill. “who’s driving!”
