We went for a long walk on Sunday and on the way back Addy showed off some of her latest imaginative play skills. She likes to crawl and pant like a dog. Which is funny in its own right. But she takes it to the next level by sniffing the grass strategically and periodically squatting when she locates a suitable location.

Hopefully it is a phase. So far no one else besides Rika and have seen her do the doggy potty dance.

Saturday we had a nice day where we actually felt a little rested and could enjoy our new surroundings. We went to IKEA to get some closet shelves (they are actually utility shelves but who goes in your closet anyway). We went to Wingers for lunch. We don’t recommend it. Addy might though.

Addy’s birthday

Sunday, May 18th, 2008

Today we are celebrating Addy and Rika’s birthday. We took Addy to the South Jordan pool which was like a amusement park. It had a stream, huge slide, swings in the pool, small slide, and various water features. It is nice to live somewhere that uses your property taxes for something besides tinfoil wrapped palm trees.

Peggy and I made grasshopper cake for Rika… Her favorite. Addy will have some too which I’m sure we’ll pay for at bedtime.

First day at new job

Monday, May 12th, 2008

Today will be my first day at my new job.  Our movers arrive today with our stuff.  Rika is going to have to supervise the unload while attending to the two girls who are under the weather right now.  I have a new found respect/wonder for my parents moving so much with little kids.  My only question is how did you do it multiple times.  Once is enough until they are in College.

Hopefully it will not be long until we are all settled in our new house.  Some routine will be good for the girls.

We are all together now in SLC. We are staying in a Residence Inn until our stuff catches up to us. We went to see our house today and it is as wonderful as we remember. Since it was Saturday there were people out everywhere in the neighborhood. Tons of Kids were using the playground across from our house. I was very excited to see Rika and the girls again. Addy is starting to get the concept of moving and says house mo pop… dudu…yak…jojo.

The drive here was uneventful for Me. The dogs slept while in the car and we had frequent play breaks when I saw secluded open space off the highways or found a dog park online. I drove up through ABQ,NM->Cuba, NM,->Farmington,NM(spent night here)->Durango,CO->Moab, UT(See Pic)->SLC,UT.

We put the dogs in a Kennel until our stuff arrives. It is more like dog heaven. It is a dog daycare that doubles as a boarding kennel. During the day the dogs play with there buddies and swim and then sleep in their own kennel at night.

Our stuff arrives Monday morning. I start work the same day. Rika has to be supper mom and direct the movers while entertaining two kiddos.

Last day in our Carlsbad house

Thursday, May 8th, 2008

The movers have packed all our household stuff.  Today they will load everything on the truck to go to our new house which we just closed on yesterday.  We are excited to go to Salt Lake City.  But there is always a little sadness in leaving a place and friends.

Last night I walked through the house and was a little sad.  Houses without any personal stuff always seem depressing.

Rika is flying to Salt Lake with the girls.  Tricia is helping her by flying with her and staying until Sunday afternoon.  I am driving our Pilot and a small utility trailer out with the stuff the movers won’t take or we want to take ourselves.
